and the Nobel Prize award goes to...

How do you want to be remembered in this world?  Come to think of it, how your legacy would be if you die today? What would people write on your obituary?

Alfred Nobel, a Swedish chemist who became rich by inventing and producing dynamites—a deadly explosive. He lived his life not thinking of how people see him… He’s life was changed in the year 1888 when his brother Ludvig died in France.
His hands are fixed in a French newspaper’s obituary. Expecting to see his brother’s name on it, instead of grief, he was compounded by dismay. It was not his brother’s obituary but his, (the newspaper’s editor confused the brothers.)The headline read, “The Merchant of Death is Dead – Alfred Nobel.” his obituary describes a man who has gotten rich by helping people kill one another.
Upset by the assessment of his life, Nobel set on to use his wealth to change his legacy. When he died eight years later, he left more than $9 million to fund awards for people whose work promotes charity/humanity. The awards became known as the Nobel Prize

I’m motivated to give more. Thanks for the book  “The Treasure Principle” by Randy Alcorn . It gives me a whole new perspective about giving. This is the principle we should all apply in our lives.

“You can’t take it with you—but you can send it on ahead.”

“Alfred Nobel had a rare opportunity.--to look at the assessment of his life at its end and still have the chance to change it.”

We know as Christians that are true home isn’t here on earth, our true home is in the eternal Heaven with Jesus, so why spend our resources on things that will soon fade? Wake up! We know our eternal destination, what about us? Alfred Nobel proved to us that we can store up “treasures” we have now into something that’s life-long. It’s just because he gave…

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.  But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:19-21 NIV
